Description Technical Specs
For those with turbocharged engines, operating in high RPM's, and possibly injecting nitrous oxide, you generally are all too familiar of the inherit compromises made while running inductive ignition coils versus utilizing a Capacitive Discharge Ignition System (CDI). While inductive coils provide a respectable spark duration they simply lack the energy output required to properly begin propagation within the combustion chamber of a high performance engine.

Conversely, CDI systems generate intense spark energy with almost no duration which requires almost 'ideal' air/fuel mixtures to produce the best power output. This compromise has finally ended with the AEM High-Output IGBT 'Smart' Inductive Coils. They are the first inductive coils to boast CDI-like spark energy and voltage as well as the long spark duration required for environments of extreme resistance found in high performance combustion chambers.

These AEM High-Output, Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) “Smart” Inductive Coils are designed for use on applications that do not have an external igniter. They install easily in place of your existing coils, and do not require a CDI module of any kind. These reliable coils also feature a shock and weatherproof design that allows them to be mounted virtually anywhere giving you the opportunity to fabricate extremely short primary and secondary wiring.

The growing popularity of these units is easy to explain. The cost is less than other popular units such as LS1 coils and they deliver World-Class Performance even on extreme 2,000-horsepower nitrous motors without a CDI while performing flawlessly.
  • Deliver CDI-like spark energy (up to 103mJ & 40kV output voltage) without a CDI Module
  • Incredibly long spark duration (up to 2.9mS)
  • Cost less than aftermarket LS1 coils
  • Weather/Shockproof & can be mounted virtually anywhere including directly on engine

Good upgrade and price! September 8, 2012

Ditching the MSD CDIs/coils for this setup has worked like a charm. Cannot beat the price for performance.
